New York--More of the kids!

Even Lilian enjoyed her headlamp!

Rhianna playing nice with Lilian. We can enjoy it while it lasts, right?
The kids loved to sit on the couch on the screened in porch and watch Shrek 2 (because it was on EVERY night) on the huge tv!

The kids slept on the pull out couch bed every night. . . once they finally went to bed!

New York--The Kids

Lilian. . . giving me the "I'm not so sure about you" look.

Rhianna--she'll always be "my girl" even if she's getting too old to call me that anymore!
What would Lilian possibly be doing besides eating??
Draven loved the headlamp we brought him!
And so did Rhianna, though she lost hers the first night :-) They missed "the guy who had these last year!" (Phil!)

We spent almost every evening with Jen and her three adorable kids at our camp.

New York--The camp

On day 10, we finally made it to New York!! We were pretty excited to get to our "camp" as they call it in New York. To us, it's a cabin. It was really adorable, small, and clean, but it sure was hot and muggy with no air conditioner!!

The outside of our camp. If you haven't been to upstate New York, the scenery is just beautiful. Everything is so green and lush and gorgeous! Although I'm not sure if it's worth the humidity.

Our deck. The chairs were up because it rained the night before.
Our little living room.
The hallway that goes from the living room into the kitchen
Out on the screened in porch.

Day 9--Finishing the Portland Cruise

I was getting bored and cold while we were stopped at an island to let passengers on and off.
On this little island, there is just one cabin with no electricity or plumbing.
This is that same passage between the two islands from a few posts back. On our way back, we passed it again and the tide had gone down a bit, so you can start to see the land under the water.

Day 9--More Portland Cruise

This little stretch between these two islands can be driven over at low tide and you can pass over it in a boat at high tide. There is a ten foot difference between low and high tide!

This is a picture of people's houses on an island.

In front of this house, you can see a little tiny lighthouse. Believe it or not, it's not just a toy, or decoration--it's a real, operating lighthouse! This is where we decided that Phil and I should get married.

Day 9--Portland Cruise

Portland was less impressive than we hoped; it was mostly just like any other big city. However, one of the highlights was the cruise we took. We got to see lots of little Islands where people have summer cabins and where some people actually live year-round! The only negative about the cruise is that it made us jealous that we don't have a summer cabin on an island in Maine :-(

This was an old civil war-era fort on an island. It's actually considered a state park, so you can visit it if you want, but only if you have your own private boat to take you there. . . we didn't.

day 9--Portland Lighthouse

There was a really old sign on these rocks next to the lighthouse that says: "Annie C. Maguire shipwrecked here Christmas Eve 1886."

Here is a picture of our neat old hotel from the outside. It was HUGE!
